The Parliament and the Government of Moldova fully support the European course despite some who, in Chisinau, dream of integration into other areas, Speaker Andrian Candu said in a meeting with the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis held at the Cotroceni Palace, IPN reports.
During the discussions, Andrian Candu said the road to the European Union is not simple, but it would be much more difficult for Moldova to cover this path without Romania.
The President of Romania said he sees Moldova oriented to the West. The Government of Moldova does its job calmly and consistent results appear as a result. This is the reason why Romania agreed to provide the last tranche of the €150 million loan.
“The only thing that interests us is for Moldova to be well. You can count on us in continuation. Moldova is very close to my soul. I’m a friend of Moldova and I see it oriented to the West,” stated Klaus Iohannis.
Andrian Candu and Klaus Iohannis conferred on the projects to interconnect the electrical energy systems of Moldova and Romania and the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline that was declared of public utility by the Moldovan authorities. The President of Romania encouraged their further implementation.
