The spring-summer session that ended recently was an intense one during which the MPs adopted essential laws and reforms for modernizing the Republic of Moldova and for solving problems faced by the citizens, Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu said in a news conference held to sum up the results of the session, IPN reports.

“Key issues that topped the public agenda were resolved namely by the vote of Parliament, either it is about the central public administration reform or social projects or about the change in the electoral system and others. Parliament continued at a sustained pace to adopted regulations to implement the Association Agreement with the EU as this agreement remains a priority for the current government and all its companies,” stated the Speaker.

Andrian Candu noted that the legislative body during the previous session produced about 2,000 reports, appraisals and amendments to legal acts. There were adopted 125 laws and 47 decisions, while 135 bills were passed in the first reading. Among the most important adopted laws are those to improve the legislation on the financial-baking sector, to strengthen the capacities of the National Bank of Moldova, to better regulate the energy market, to improve the business by excluding particular inspections and reducing the number of required permissive documents.

The Speaker also mentioned the law to introduce the meal voucher system, the new law on terrorism fighting and the changes made in the audiovisual sector and in the electoral system.

Among the shortcomings of the session, Andrian Candu noted the failure to adopt the legislation on money laundering and a new strategy for cooperation with civil society and to address other issues that were rather technical in character.
