“The Republic of Moldova needs stability to advance the reforms and implement the Association Agreement,” Head of Parliament Andrian Candu said in a meeting with his Swedish counterpart Urban Ahlin in Stockholm, IPN reports, quoting the Parliament’s press service.

“We are firmly committed to rapidly advance reforms and to implement the overdue measures stipulated in the Association Agreement with the EU. We have the last chance to show the people and the external partners that we can achieve concrete results in the country’s development,” stated the Moldovan Speaker.

The main subjects discussed in the meetings with Urban Ahlin and with representatives of Swedish parliamentary groups included the political and socioeconomic developments in Moldova, the economic situation, the regional context and authorities’ priorities in advancing reforms and implementing the Association Agreement.

Andrian Candu thanked the Swedish authorities for the support provided to Moldova for implementing numerous projects important for the people, including for the annual financial assistance of about €14 million that will be allocated to the country until 2020 within the strategy for Sweden’s reform cooperation with Eastern Europe, the Western Balkans and Turkey.

The Swedish lawmakers encouraged the Moldovan authorities to continue the reforms and the European integration efforts.
