Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu said he voted for a mayor of Chisinau who has possibilities, knowledge and skills to do what the citizens want the most – to have a clean and modern city where the inhabitants would feel well and would not be ashamed of the conditions in which they live, IPN reports.
“First of all, I would like to call on the residents of Chisinau city to mobilize as the choice is made not at home, but at the polling place. If we really want to have a modern, clean and civilized city, each of us should exercise their right to vote today,” the Speaker stated after casting his ballot.
Andrian Candu also said that he wants Chisinau to become again a green city and have the image of a European city where the inhabitants would enjoy proper infrastructure, cleanness, peace, etc.
Eleven candidates are running for the mayoralty of Chisinau. For the elections to be valid, the voter turnout should be of at least one fourth of the voters. The candidate who gains more than half of the votes wins the elections. If no one gathers the necessary number of votes, runoffs are held in two weeks for the two candidates who obtained most of the votes.
