Andrian Candu elected Head of Parliament

The deputy chairman of the PDM Andrian Candu was elected Head of Parliament by 59 votes of MP. Sixty MPs took part in the voting, with one vote being against, IPN reports.

Andrian Candu thanked his colleagues for their confidence. He said he will be the Speaker of everyone and will obey the laws, the Parliament’s Regulations and the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova.

The voting involved the Democratic, Liberal-Democratic and Communist factions. The Socialist and Liberal MPs didn’t take part.

Andrian Candu, 39, is a jurist by profession. He was named Minister of Economy on July 2, 2014. Between May 30, 2013 and July 11, 2014, he had served as Deputy Head of Parliament. He had been a Member of Parliament from December 2010 until July 2014.
