Moldova’s Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu and the President of the Senate of Belgium Christine Defraigne discussed the stimulation of cooperation between Moldova and Belgium by instituting a format of cooperation at the level of expert commissions or friendship groups in a meeting in Brussels, IPN reports.
According to the Parliament’s press service, Christine Defraigne assured that they are ready to offer the Moldovan Parliament the necessary expertise, depending on needs.
In the meeting, Andrian Candu spoke about the Parliament’s role in doing internal reforms in Moldova. He noted that the priority reform action roadmap was about 60% carried out. By the end of the current session, the legislative body is to adopt a considerable volume of legislation that refers mainly to justice and the fight against corruption, the improvement of the situation in the financial-banking sector and of the business climate.
The interlocutors discussed the internal developments in Moldova, regional security and the relations with the neighboring states and the progress made in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process under the German chairmanship of the OSCE.
Andrian Candu invited the Belgian official to take part in the September 9 festive meeting of Parliament that will be dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the declaration of Moldova’s independence.
