Writer Andrei Strambeanu, an ex-MP of the former Alliance for Democracy and Reform, said that the failure of the Communist government is proven by the departure of one million people abroad after 2001 and by the wish of another one million people to obtain Romanian nationality so as to escape from the Communist ‘heaven’.
“During eight years of government, they destroyed everything, impoverished the population and deprived the people of information and true facts, politicized the state institutions and the church and transformed the police into a terror institution, whereas in 1989 the Soviet militiamen danced the Moldovan Round Dance together with us in the Great National Assembly Square,” Andrei Strambeanu has told Info-Prim Neo.
According to the writer, Voronin’s regime will remain in history as an odious regime that destroyed the statehood promoted by Mircea Snegur and Petru Lucinschi.
“What kind of president is Voronin if he cannot bring home his native village? Andrei Strambeanu asked. He is sure that when the four noncommunist parties, the PLDM, PL, PDM and AMN, come to power, the prosecutor general, the minister of the interior and other state functionaries who blindly obey orders, even if they risk breaking the law, will be changed. Voronin will have to renounce the post of head of state or that of MP. If he loses immunity, he risks losing many things, the former MP considers.
Andrei Strambeanu said that Voronin is not cooperative, as Nicolae Ceausescu was, and will not want to yield up the eight votes needed to elect the head of state. If the president is not elected again, the PCRM could be accused of sabotage and the Constitutional Court will have the right to outlaw it.
Strambeanu said that the Communist MPs will have to show whether they are for Moldova, as they stated during the electoral campaign, or for Voronin. “There is only lie and terror and the air is stale. There is ice, it is Siberia,” the writer said, referring to the PCRM. “If a Communist detaches himself from Voronin, we should forgive him and accept him”.
Andrei Strambeanu also said that the Alliance for Democracy and Reform was destroyed by a ‘small log’ - Iurie Rosca. As a result, the Communists came to power.
