The politicians from Moldova discredited the European integration idea and are no longer credible inside the country and outside it, European adviser from Romania Andrei Stoiciu said in the program “European horizon” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.
According to Stoiciu, Moldova had a European integration chance in the geopolitical context generated by the war in Ukraine, but the Moldovan politicians didn’t take it. “The Moldovan rulers ably used a geopolitical circumstance to promote their interests. A year ago, the foreign ambassadors stayed at the Premier’s door with different offers to support the Republic of Moldova. Now this chance no longer exists. The geopolitical conditions have changed. The conflict in Ukraine became frozen. But the Moldovan rulers are trying to use the same story about the European integration. Nobody yet believes their tales,” stated the adviser.
Andrei Stoiciu considers the decline in the ratings of the parties that have ruled since 2009 in surveys is good news. “This amalgam of oligarchy and lies can no longer be tolerated. The disappearance of these rulers would be good news. It’s good that the people do not have confidence in them. It means that they must leave. The Government that those from Chisinau want to form now will further discredit the political class there,” he stated.
Andrei Stoiciu approved of the Romanian President’s decision to stop the provision of the Romanian loan promised to the Government of Moldova. “First of all, there is no certainty that the money will be used for the correct purpose. Secondly, the Government of Romania could be accused of supporting the discredited political class in Chisinau. Neither the EU, which has particular conditions for unlocking the financial assistance for Moldova, approved of this support. Romania’s assistance for Moldova must be substantial, but must be provided directly, avoiding the government,” he said.
