Andrei Spînu announced his decision to quit as Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development and to withdraw from the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), IPN reports.
"I hope that this step will allow the return to discussions about Moldova in the public space and less about one person or another, as the enemies of our country want," he posted on his official Facebook page.
Andrei Spînu noted that in recent years he has been subjected to an unfair defamation campaign. "Almost daily I was attacked without any evidence being presented. I continued to do my job in the interests of our country. I'm at peace in heart. I know what I leave behind and I know that no one will be able to present any argument against the integrity of my actions," said Andrei Spînu.
He also said that as long as he was at the helm of the Ministry, he managed to ensure that no one blackmails Moldova with energy resources, that infrastructure (roads, bridges, water supply systems, etc.) is built, and the localities receive the necessary funds for development through the “European Village” National Program.
"There is a lot to do, but justice remains the zero priority. As long as false topics are discussed in the public space, organized criminal groups, corrupt people and those who represent the foreign interests of other states will carry out their plans. We saw this in this autumn's elections," wrote Andrei Spînu.
Between December 2020 and August 2021, Andrei Spînu served as secretary general of the staff of the President of the Republic of Moldova. In August the same year, he was appointed Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, a position he held until February 2023, when the Gavrilita Government resigned. From February to July 2023, Andrei Spînu held again the position of secretary general of the President’s staff. From July 2023 until now, he served as Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development in the Government led by Dorin Recean.
