The lawyers for mayor-elect Andrei Nastase appealed the Centru branch of the Court of Chisinau’s decision not to validate the outcome of the new mayoral elections held in the municipality to the Chisinau Appeals Court.
Contacted by IPN, lawyer Dumitru Pavel said the Appeals Court is to pronounce within three days. According to the lawyer, the judgement passed by the ordinary court is illegal as such a verdict couldn’t have been given based on the evidence examined in the hearing.
The defense is ready to use all the appeal ways to show the real face of justice. The lawyer also said that they haven’t yet received the reasoned judgment of the ordinary court.
In a live broadcast on Facebook, Andrei Nastase said a protest will be mounted in front of the Chisinau City Hall starting at 5:30pm today.
In the evening of June 19, close to 10pm, the Centru branch of the Court of Chisinau municipality invalidated the results of the new mayoral elections held recently in Chisinau. Present at the court, mayor-elect Andrei Nastase, who heads the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA), told the press this is a perfidious game orchestrated by the current government, noting the decision of the ordinary court will be challenged.
