The chairman of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) Andrei Năstase said the whole bloc ACUM should be making effort to prevent President Igor Dodon from winning the second term in office at the next year’s presidential elections. He noted he will do his best to stop Igor Dodon from holding office for another four years. He yet avoided saying if he intends to run for the high office, IPN reports.

“We must all make effort so that the biggest threat to the Republic of Moldova, President Igor Dodon, does not win a new term in office. I will do everything I can in this regard. I will be Igor Dodon’s nightmare. I see who he is afraid of. I see who he attacks. This is what Plahotniuc did in 2016 together with Dodon,” Andrei Năstase stated in the TV8 program “Natalia Morari’s Politics”.

Andrei Năstase could not say if he will run in the next presidential elections and if the ACUM bloc will field one or two candidates. He informed that the National Congress of the PPPDA on December 22 will discuss the issue.

The politician also said that the post of minister of the interior cost him the position of mayor of Chisinau. During the election campaign, the blame for all the accidents and crimes that occurred in Moldova was intentionally put on the Ministry of the Interior. Currently, something like this is not done.

Moreover, Andrei Năstase said the published results of the commission for choosing candidates for prospector general affected him in the election campaign. Many people from civil society simply didn’t go to vote in the wake of those developments.

The former minister of the interior regrets that the Sandu Government was removed so swiftly. “Our goal wasn’t to make sure that this majority works forever. Our intention was to ensure that this majority supported all the deoligarchization projects agreed by that initial arrangement, to compete the justice sector reform, the reform of the prosecution service, the probes into such resonant cases as the usurpation of the state power, the laundering of money by the Russian mafia, the financing of election campaigns,” he noted.

He also expressed his regret at the fact that the commitments undertaken by the agreement on the constitution of the PSRM-ACUM majority weren’t fulfilled. “That agreement covered the law on broadcasting and envisioned the constitution of a commission for investigating the April 7, 2009 events,” stated the leader of the PPPDA.
