The candidate for mayor of Chisinau of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase said the struggle for change in Chisinau continues and he has two weeks to gather all the forces needed to return the City Hall to the citizens. The candidate gave a press briefing after the election results with 90% of the votes having been counted showed he will compete in the runoffs together with the Socialist Ion Ceban, IPN reports.
Andrei Nastase thanked the inhabitants of Chisinau for having voted for him and his team that worked together with him in the election campaign. He noted he has enough time to persuade the inhabitants of Chisinau to take part in the runoffs in a larger number. “My duty is to bring back hope to the people. We will resume work tomorrow already so as to convince the people and to bring about the change in the capital city,” stated Andrei Nastase.
In the same briefing, the leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu, whose party supported Andrei Nastase in the current elections, said this is a victory against lie and injustice. It is the first victory that enables the anti-oligarchic forces to get the chance to begin the change in the country, starting from the municipality of Chisinau. ”In two weeks, this will become a reality,” stated the politician.
With 99% of the votes counted in the municipality of Chisinau, the Party of Socialists’ candidate Ion Ceban polled 41% of the ballot, while the candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase slighly over 32%.
