The government’s intention to modify the electoral system is dictated by the interest to hold power at all costs, the leader of the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase stated in the talk show “Important” on TVC 21 channel, IPN reports.
“This amendment to introduce the joint electoral system will be made in the interests not of the people, but of the discredited political class. In the future parliamentary elections, the PDM does not have chances to return to power. But the uninominal system would enable Plahotniuc and his people to remain in power,” said Nastase.
According to him, the modification of the electoral system poses threats to society, while the risk for this change to be adopted until the parliamentary elections of 2018 is as big as the risk for the law on capital liberalization and tax amnesty to be passed. “The people are tired of this government that brought them to their knees. The parliamentary elections remain the only chance for our people to replace this regime,” explained the politician.
Andrei Nastase said he counts on the support of the people and international organizations in preventing the modification of the electoral system.
