The candidate for mayor of Chisinau of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) Andrei Nastase said he voted with confidence and with hope for a better future at home. “I voted for my values that I think are shared by a lot of people, such as truth, dignity respect for the people and responsibility,” Andrei Nastase stated after marking his ballot alongside his family, IPN reports.

The PPPDA candidate said he came to vote because this is the responsibility of all those who care about this city and this country. According to him, only this way can democracy, the rule of law, functional economy, jobs and freedom be ensured. If there is freedom, there will be welfare and the people will be positive and happy and will want to stay at home, while the exodus will stop.

Andrei Nastase said he has a lot of confidence in the residents of Chisinau who will definitely choose a worthy mayor who is able to improve things in the capital city and who has a clear view and aims to transform the City Hall into an institution that will serve the people, not as it happened during many years.

The politician called on the voters to be active and to go and vote regardless of their option because today it is a very important day for the capital city, for its suburban localities and for the whole country. “It is essential for the number of those who vote to be very high as this is how democracy, the rule of law and a civilized country can be built,” noted Andrei Nastase.

The politician’s wife Angela Nastase said she voted for a European city here, at home, and for the person and the team that she trusts the most. One more chance should be given to this city so that it is comfortable, clean and is at the service of its citizens.

A number of 634 547 ballots were printed for the mayoral runoffs. Of these, 408 080 are in the Romanian language. There is no minimum turnout of voters required for the runoff vote. The candidate who gains the largest number of votes emerges victorious. The elected mayor will hold office for a year, until the local general mayoral elections of 2019.
