The candidate of the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) Andrei Nastase said that if he is elected mayor general of Chisinau municipality, he has a team of professionals who are ready to put his electoral program into practice immediately after the elections. He made such a statement in the public debate “I ask you to elect me mayor because...” organized by IPN News Agency.

Andrei Nastase said that if he is elected mayor, he will continue the good things initiated by ex-mayor Dorin Chirtoaca and will put the failed things right. His electoral program is judicious, well-structured and covers all the social strata and all the dimensions of the local public administration, including the political one. It can be supplemented with what’s best from the program of other candidates. “I’m the leader of a party and enjoy the support of two parties. I’m supported by the European people’s family, our partners from Romania and this makes me confident that I will represent all the voters of national essence, pro-European voters,” stated the candidate.

Asked why he should be voted, the candidate of the PPPDA said he showed in the past that he cares for this country, Chisinau city, the people and the public funds and defended not someone separately, but the whole society and has never divided it. He accepted to run for the mayoralty of Chisinau for love for this country, this city. “I run alongside a team of well-trained experts, professionals from the country and abroad. The qualities of a leader reside in his capacity to build a powerful team with which to deal with all the objectives,” stated Andrei Nastase.

As to what he intended to do as a mayor, the candidate said he wants Chisinau to look differently. The capital city should be a really European city with modern infrastructure and transport for all those who live here and those who come to visit the city. The inhabitants of the city want a change and expect a new political class. He is open to any kind of discussions with other political parties, which will lead to constructivism, not only to disputes and polemics, and will help analyze what’s best for the residents of Chisinau and its suburbs.

Andrei Nastase also said that the best solutions for the people and for Chisinau can be identified by discussions and these will be a first effort and step towards freeing the country from captivity and returning things to normality. “I invite you to analyze our program and you can suggest improvements to the best electoral program worked out by the best team on the Moldovan political arena at present,” stated the candidate of the PPPDA.

According to ADEPT executive director Igor Botan, the project’s standing expert, the following can be deduced from Andrei Nastase’s deeds and his program: he showed involvement in favor of the public interest; wants reconciliation by good governance in order to overcome cleavages in society; has a well-through-out program and a team of professionals ready to implement this; has allies who can provide expertise and assistance in implementing the program. His platform is centered on infrastructure so as to create urban conveniences and on the social sphere, education, healthcare and higher salaries for employees.

The public debate “I ask you to elect me mayor because...” was the 89th installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture through political debates” that are financially supported by the German Foundation “Hanns Seidel”.
