The elected mayor of Chisinau municipality Andrei Nastase admitted that he expected he would have a better score in the mayoral runoffs, but he is anyway satisfied. According to him, if 50% of the electors had voted, the result would have been different. The issue was developed in the talk show “In Depth” on ProTV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.

“I know that for a lot of people the elections are a lottery, but not for me because I know I made every effort to persuade the people that we need a change and this change can be brought about only with new, honest people,” stated Andrei Nastase. The elected mayor noted the key to success resides in work, truth, dignity, responsibility and respect for the people.

Andrei Nastase said the posts in the municipal executive that do not necessitate a public contest for being filled will be occupied by persons who will pass a king of verification test in the investigation media so as to see if they are upright. Asked how he will cooperate with the Party “Action and Solidarity” and the Liberal Democratic Party that supported him in the election campaign, the mayor said he will make sure that the best specialists of these parties are included in  the team so that they do good work together.

The elected mayor also said the good projects initiated by Dorin Chirtoaca will be continued and the bad ones will be eliminated. “I will make sure that the municipal services work in the interests of the citizens and do their job,” he stated. As regards the team, Andrei Nastase said this will most probably include four deputy mayors, as the law provides.

In another development, Andrei Nastase said he would like the central bus and minibus terminal downtown to be moved to the peripheries and the Central Market to be modernize. The street markings are a priority for him. “I will do my best and will attract internal and foreign funds to paint the crosswalks with high-quality paint so that we forget about this problem,” he stated.

He noted that the municipality of Chisinau will be donated an online application by which the people could report problems from a distance, without having to travel to the City Hall.

Andrei Nastase invited the press to follow him, to criticize him where he should be criticized and to penalize all those who will try to sabotage the good projects.
