The leader of the Platform “Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase does not rule out the possibility of running for the post of head of state, if the President is elected by the people. He made such statements in the program “Interpol” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.
“If a person better than me is not found, I will run for the presidency, but we should first reach that moment,” stated Nastase.
He reiterated the position that the head of state must be elected by direct vote. “We are collecting signatures for a referendum to amend the Constitution. I hope that we will manage to meet the requirements by the end of the current President’s term, in March,” said the protest leader.
Andrei Nastase also said that he would accept the post of prosecutor general, especially because he has evidence against those who are in power. “I possess evidence showing that corruption schemes were employed, but who I should present it to? The current prosecutor general will destroy it. I will make it public only when the state institutions are not controlled politically. I would like the Prosecutor Generals Office to be managed by a person from Germany. If not, I would become involved,” he stated.
The leader of the Platform “Dignity and Truth” also said that the protests will continue. “The people didn’t give up protesting. They will continue to protest until the corrupt government falls,” he stated.
