Andrei Nastase, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, leader of Dignity and Truth Platform Party, says he will run in the local elections in Chisinau to win the City Hall. At the same time, the politician says that if Chisinau City Hall falls into the hands of the Socialists, then the capital will be a disaster. The statements were made on "Politica Nataliei Morari" programme, TV8, IPN reports.

"I am determined to win these elections because it is essential for Chisinau City Hall to have a competent mayor, a mayor who has demonstrated his qualities, a mayor who does not talk about short-term, but long-term projects, a mayor capable to provide financing for long-term projects for the benefit of citizens”, declared Andrei Năstase.

If he is unable to win the mayor's seat, Andrei Nastase says he will return to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, though he pushes such thoughts aside. "I think that I will be able to convince people that we need to make things right as regards the cancellation of the vote (e.n. The vote in the early 2018 elections in Chisinau). At the same time, we should vote massively so that in Chisinau Municipal Council we could have a comfortable majority to make real reforms in Chisinau, in the suburbs, to improve the quality of life,” the minister said.

Although the party he leads has signed with the Socialist Party and the Action and Solidarity Party a "non-aggression pact", Andrei Năstase says that this does not prevent him from carrying out the electoral campaign. "We are not part of the same political bloc. The political bloc ACUM has one candidate, the Socialists have another candidate”, explained the politician.

Andrei Năstase noted that the agreement signed a few days ago was an agreement at institutional level, not at party level. According to him, a political agreement was signed in June, when there were no functional institutions. "I want to achieve the undertaken goals," he says.

At the same time, the politician says that although the mentioned agreement does not provide for the appointment of a European prosecutor, he never gave up on this idea. "I said that when a professional man is selected, one capable of delivering excellent results, the president has the possibility to grant him citizenship," concluded the PPDA leader.
