The Venice Commission’s opinion about the draft law to introduce the mixed-member electoral system was a harsh blow given to the Moldovan government and this should therefore resign, chairman of the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) Andrei Nastase said in the program “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.
“If there had been other persons, these would have resigned after investing so large financial and human resources in this proposal. But we have a mafiotic government and this will not resign,” stated Nastase.
The leader of the PPPDA noted he is a unionist, but does not support the National Unity Party (PUN), where ex-President of Romania Traian Basescu was recently elected as president of honor. “I don’t want Basescu to experience a big disappointment. This will actually be not only Basescu’s disappointment, but also of all the people who will put their trust in this party. We saw what happened to the PLDM, PL and PPEM. The people had confidence in these parties and trusted that these will take them to the European Union and that they will make the union. I cannot trust those who formed part of the government led by Plahotniuc,” stated Nastase.
According to him, all the citizens should become involved for things in the country to be changed. “When the PDM bought MPs and mayors in ‘bunch’, as at the market, I warned and called on the people to intervened and defend their mayors. I wasn’t heard and this is what we have now,” he said.
Andrei Nastase noted he does not want protests, but will not give up mounting them. “I do not want protests. I just want the people to live freely in this country,” stated the leader of the PPPDA.
