The president of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) Andrei Năstase said that he chose not to run in the new parliamentary elections in Hâncești constituency as his current concerns include the consolidation of the party he heads and the unification of all the pro-European democratic political forces, both for the elections in Hâncești and for the presidential elections that will take place this year, IPN reports.

“This is my personal preoccupation. I’m consistent. I’ve proposed this since 2016,” the politician stated in the talk show “Black Box” on TV8 channel. According to him, the PPPDA has a number of leaders and in Parliament the party is represented the best and has very good people in the portfolios of which they are in charge. “This is my achievement. Someone can replace me any time if I leave the PPPDA or if I’m made to leave. The Platform “Dignity and Truth” is not based on one person and does not center around Năstase,” he stated.

Andrei Năstase said that when he decided to form part of the Government led by Maia Sandu, as minister of the interior, he thought about the country, the ACUM Bloc and the prospects of the future generations. “If I had thought about me, I would have remained in Parliament. I chose to lend a hand as part of the Ministry of the Interior,” he explained.

The politician also said that the PPPDA did its best for the ACUM Bloc to remain united and to attract other forces around it, such as the Liberal Democratic Party, the Liberal Party and the National Unity Party. “In 2016, the PPPDA supported a political candidate for President of another party. In 2018, the DA Platform made many concessions for the ACUM Bloc to exist. Owing to the PPPDA and the concessions it made, we could combine forces for the parliamentary elections of February 2019,” stated Andrei Năstase.
