The elections and resignations in a party are something normal when it goes to a transparent and democratic process, said Andrei Năstase, who resigned as the president of the Party ”Dignity and Truth Platform” alongside the party’s vice presidents, IPN reports.
Andrei Năstase told a news conference that the resignations tendered today coincide with the end of the mandates given at the last congress of PPPDA. The convening of a new congress was put off for several times for different reasons, but a congress will be now convoked so as to take crucial decisions for the party. In the September congress, the members will elect the administration of the party, namely the president, vice presidents, the Political Bureau, the National Political Council and the responsible commissions. Năstase avoided saying if he will run again for the post of the party’s president.
Andrei Năstase thanked the citizens who voted for PPPDA in the July 11 elections. He said he considers the Republic of Moldova now has a pro-European President and majority owing to the people from PPPDA. The party is now preoccupied not with posts, but with the strengthening of the time. The members of the party’s team can share their experience. They also hope for good times and will land a hand to ensure the country’s development no matter where they are.
Alexandru Slusari, who resigned as the party’s vice president, said it was absolutely logical for the whole team to assume responsibility for the result achieved in elections, which is not the desired one. “We realize why and we realize that it was a somehow tactical vote. But the party anyway needs to be reset,” he stated.
PPPDA acting president Dinu Lingual noted he is sure the Republic of Moldova needs the expertise and experience of their party. They will continue to show civic activism, at the local level too, now as an extraparliamentary party.
PPPDA gained 2.33% of the vote in the snap parliamentary elections of July 11. The election threshold for a party is 5%.
