Andrei Năstase, who announced that he will run in the presidential election of October 20, came on Monday for the fourth time in front of the Presidential Palace to participate in the so-called debates that he initiated and to which he invited incumbent President Maia Sandu. The head of state did not accept the invitation, but Andrei Năstase also did not manage to make statements because he was booed by activists. According to the politician, they were sent by the current government, IPN reports.
“Today I came to the Presidential Palace after the three visits I made and at which I brought good bills for the country, bills on childcare allowances... I brought initiatives on the amendment of Article 47 of the Constitution so that the incomes in the Republic of Moldova, salaries and pensions are not lower than the minimal consumer basket of each Moldovan, not lower than the minimum subsistence level... I brought bills to combat poverty, corruption. I proposed a number of bills that were ignored by the incumbent President,” said Andrei Năstase. The politician also said that he came to the Presidential Palace to ask for the reduction of the number of MPs to 71, as the over 400,000 people who signed in this regard want.
Earlier, when Andrei Năstase invited President Maia Sandu to the debates, Adrian Băluțel, the chief of staff of President Maia Sandu, said that the rules for organizing debates are decided by the Central Election Commission, not by the President’s Office.
