Andrei Munteanu is contending for the post of mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau on behalf of the Political Party NOI, which is led by Vladimir Dachi.
In 1985-1990, he studied at the Balti Teacher Training University, while in 1995-1998, he studied at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova. Since 2000 until 2001, he studied at the Institute of International Education of the Stockholm University, the education economics specialty, while in 2017-2020, he was involved in a program at the Moldova State University.
During 1990-1993, he worked as an English teacher at the National College of Microelectronics and Computer Engineering and headed the English Language Department of this College. Since 1993 until 1995, he worked as an interpreter at a commercial bank. During the next years, he worked as an interpreter for a project implemented by USAID in Moldova. In 1997-2000, he served as a social policy consultant for a UNDP-funded project. In 2001-2009, he worked as a consultant and independent trainer for national and international NGOs. During the next years, he taught at the University of European Studies of Moldova. For a year, he served as an adviser to the minister of education.
In 2011-2013, he worked as a senior lecturer at the Moldova Free International University. In 2016-2019, he taught economic sciences at the Jiujiang University in Jiangxi province. Since 2019 until 2021, he taught economic sciences online for the Faculty of Economics and Management at the Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Since 2014 until present, he has worked as a lecturer at the State Teacher Training University “Ion Creangă”. In 2021 until present, he also worked as an external lecturer for the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University of Heidenheim in Germany.
In his property and personal interests statement for last year, the candidate didn’t indicate incomes and property.
Among his commitments, Andrei Munteanu mentioned the reduction in the municipal public transport fare to 4 lei, introduction of a dental services package on account of the mandatory health insurance, creation of a municipal urban planning and economics institute and of a research and consultancy center in futuristic urban economy, modernization of the ticketing system in public transport, building of a belt road in the municipality of Chisinau, creation of a free public service “district lawyer” etc.
As it was decided by draw, Andrei Munteanu of the Political Party NOI will be next to No. 24 on the ballot.
