The citizens of the Republic of Moldova voted pragmatically in the Romanian parliamentary elections and proved that they are immune to disinformation, expert Andrei Curăraru stated in a program on the public channel Radio Moldova. According to him, the parliamentary elections in Romania highlighted the increased interest of the Romanian citizens from the Republic of Moldova in the political future of the country. Over 81,000 voters participated in the ballot in the Republic of Moldova, and the results show a majority support for the Save Romania Union (USR), IPN reports.

Andrei Curăraru said the fact that extremist, Eurosceptic parties entered the Parliament of Romania is a worrying signal. The creation of a pro-European coalition in Romania will depend on the outcome of the presidential election. "It is a very high score for the far-right parties, which together accumulated more than 30%. It is a trend that was also observed in the European Parliament elections and was also confirmed in the first round of the presidential election in Romania. It is clear that there is the possibility of creating a pro-European government, without Eurosceptics, without nationalists. The problem is how flexible the classical actors from the political arena will be when forming a government. This will also depend on the outcome of the presidential election. I believe that a broad coalition against populists is needed in Romania. The PSD-PNL-USR and UDMR is the only functional coalition that can be created in Romania," Andrei Curararu stated in the program "At 360 Degrees" on Radio Moldova.

He noted that the recent parliamentary elections show that the Republic of Moldova has become more influential in the Romanian political landscape. "The Republic of Moldova has become an important factor in Romanian politics. Without the votes from the Republic of Moldova, Elena Lasconi would not have reached the second round. The citizens of the Republic of Moldova with dual citizenship must go and vote for someone who has the Republic of Moldova on the agenda, who will support us on the path of European integration. We need a predictable and stable Romania because Romania is our main trading partner and the main advocate in Brussels," said Andrei Curăraru.

Romanian citizens from the Republic of Moldova in the Romanian parliamentary elections voted mostly for the Save Romania Union (URS). According to preliminary data, in the Republic of Moldova, 54.5% of the electors voted for the USR in the Senate. Also, the USR obtained 61% of the votes for the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanians from the Republic of Moldova.

"The vote in the Republic of Moldova is, first of all, a pragmatic vote. The vote in favor of the USR comes after Elena Lasconi noted that she has the Republic of Moldova on her agenda and wants to support us on the path of European integration. Secondly, we are much more immune to disinformation tactics. In addition, active in the Romanian elections is that responsible part of our society that has critical thinking. These are the citizens who see the two Romanian countries together in the European Union," said the expert.

Over 81,000 citizens of the Republic of Moldova, holders of dual citizenship, participated in the Romanian parliamentary elections. A number of 59 polling stations were established on the territory of the Republic of Moldova for these elections.
