The Liberal Party (PL) condemns the violent actions on April 7 and states that the whole responsibility for the social turmoil, for devastating the Parliament and the Presidency rests with the authorities.
“We condemn the actions of the Communist authorities and invite president Voronin not to seek for the guilty in other places, but to look in the mirror and realize that he is responsible for the events of April 7,” said Chisinau mayor and PL deputy president Dorin Chirtoacă at a news conference on Thursday.
The PL considers that the Communist governance, in order to cover up the rig of the April 5 elections and to deviate the opinion of the public from that, using the peaceful protests of citizens, staged a would-be coup d'etat, and accuses the opposition parties over it, in the country, and Romania, as an external enemy of Moldova's sovereignty. The PL believes that the actions of the government pursue to compromise the opposition political in order to declare them out of law, under the accusation of allegedly being anti-state parties.
“The style and methods used are primitive and betray the arsenal of provocations of the former KGB – groups of provocateurs injected into the mob, who incited to violence, hoisting Romania's flag on the Presidency headquarters, writing messages containing the name of Romania, etc.,” reads a statement issued by the PL.
The PL leaders, Dorin Chirtoaca and Mihai Ghimpu, say there is enough video evidence to prove there were policemen in civil clothing and collaborators of the secret services among the provocateurs. At the same time, the authorities did not ensure the protection of those two institutions and deployed carabineers aged 18-19 to the place, while at other manifestations special troops are sent, much better endowed and trained.
The PL asks the European Union, the Council of Europe to send an investigating mission to Moldova to probe the actions undertaken by the Communist authorities after April 5. The PL also asks the public media, including the television Moldova 1, which airs only the officials' views, to allow them to express their view about the passed events.
At the same time, the PL asks the authorities to publicize the list of the people arrested these days, to set them free and to probe them in freedom.
On the eve, the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and the Our Moldova Alliance (AMN) made similar statements. The PLDM and AMN leaders denied they would have organized the protests of April 7 and asked to set up an investigating commission to search the events and to unveil the genuine organizers of the acts of vandalism.
