The article forms part of IPN’s information campaign that presents biographical data, information about the incomes and property and professional experience of candidates for mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau.

Anatolie Prohnitski is contending for the mayoralty of Chisinau on behalf of the Ecologist Green Party he manages.

He was born on March 7, 1957 in Sadaclia village of Basarabeasca district. He is married and has a child.

In 1975-1979, he studied at the Saint Petersburg Military School, while in 1979-1984, he did his military service in the post of officer in Iavas, Mordovia. In 1987, he graduated from the Moscow Military Academy. Since 1987 until 1988, he did his military service as an officer in Kutaisi, while until 1992 – in Khabarovsk.

In 1992-2002, he served in the carabineer troops as deputy brigade commander, brigade commander and retired colonel.

Since 2008 until present, he has been a member of the Ecologist Green Party. In 2012, he was elected chairman. The party contended in other elections too, including parliamentary ones, but failed to pass the election threshold.

Anatolie Prohnitski is a pensioner and last year he collected 134,817 lei in pensions from the National House of Social Insurance. His wife collected 61,560 lei in pensions and also 147,468 lei in salaries from the Buiucani Local Medical Association.

The candidate declared an agricultural lot inherited in 2007, which was valued at almost 37,000 lei. He also owns half of an apartment that is 65 square meters in area. In 1989, he was donated a house that is 59 square meters in area. In 2006, he inherited a house that is 85 square meters in area. In his statement, he also declared two bank accounts with 16,500 lei in them.

When launching his election campaign, Anatolie Prohnitski said that the Ecologist Green Party no longer accept the ecological crisis in the municipality of Chisinau. According to him, the Ecologist Green Party is a clean party with fair principles which pleads for correctness and observance of the legislation. “With our team that consists of experienced ecologists, representatives of the academia, together with townspeople and, surely, with the assistance and financial support of our counterparts from over 300 European green mayor’s offices, we will do so that Chisinau breathes freely,” stated the candidate.

As it was decided by draw, Anatolie Prohnitski of the Ecologist Green Party will be next to No. 19 on the ballot.
