The assertion that the levee in Nemteni was burst in a controlled way in order to save the Romanian town of Galati from flooding, made by the “head of SRL PCRM” Vladimir Voronin, is nonsense aimed at inciting the people to violence and revolt, said the chairman of the 1992 War Veterans Association “Tiras-Tighina” Anatolie Caraman.
In a news conference on Friday, Anatolie Caraman said the PCRM makes Romania a scapegoat for all Moldova's troubles because it does not have electoral proposals and arguments for the people.
A battle commander during the Nistru war, Anatolie Caraman said that if the levee in Nemteni had been blown up, as the Communists claim, the explosion would have been felt in the villages situated nearby. During the fighting in Cosnita, the explosions were heard in Chisinau as well, he stated.
Anatolie Caraman expressed his regret at the fact that all the parties involved in the election campaign take steps against Moldova's integration into the European community. Even the right-wing parties take unpredictable measures, he said, giving as example the leader of the Anti-Mafia Movement Sergiu Mocanu, who heads the list of candidates of the Party for Nation and Country.
“Nobody denies that we have mafia clans in Moldova. “Tiras-Tighina” possesses information about all these clans. At least partially honest people should come to power for these clans to be annihilated,” Anatolie Caraman said.
He also said that it is not right to accuse people without having a court decision as the presumption of innocence should be respected in a state of law. The members of the 1992 War Veterans Association “Tiras-Tighina” do not believe Sergiu Mocanu's statements as he served the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin when he was presidential adviser and compared Voronin with Stephan the Great.
“Tiras-Tighina” calls on the population to vote for the Liberal Party or the Liberal Democratic Party in the November 28 elections. It also urges the small parties to withdraw from the race and support the two parties so as not to give votes to the Communists Party and prevent it from returning to power.
