The political class is forced to take into account the presence of the protesters. The influence exerted by the protests is evident and visible. The protesters are subduing the political class even if the related changes are not as visible as the protesters would like, considers Anatol Taranu, director of the Center for Politian Research and Constancy “Politicon”. In an interview for Radio Free Europe, he said that the influence of the protests on the modifications inside the current political class does not produce a qualitative and essential change, but stimulates the reaching of an apogee in the struggle between different oligarchic clans inside the political class, IPN reports.

“For now, this influence on the political class is felt namely by this intensification of the struggle for supremacy between different oligarchic clans. Amid protests, the political class in Moldova now reached the situation when a dominant oligarchic force asserts itself inside it. These are those who won the struggle between clans. Today, the administration of the Democratic Party represents the dominant oligarchic power in the political class of our country,” stated Anatol Taranu.

The analyst noted that there is no fatal predisposition following these clashes and nobody can now say with certitude that during a relatively predictable period of time the success will be on the side of the political class or of the oligarchic system, or of those that protest against it. “It is a war, a struggle and the results of a war are always unpredictable. It is yet evident that the oligarchy in Moldova is doomed to failure in the long run. The question is for how long it will yet keep its dominance and how many efforts, including sacrifices, should be made for the Moldovan oligarchy to be defeated,” he said.

Anatol Taranu considers the protesters are the motive power of this process. The higher the number of protest platforms is, the higher the number of options that will appear inside the protesters will be and the more powerful and diverse the protest movement will be. A lot depends on those who will lead the protest movement as these should be credible people able to understand the importance of the moment and to clearly formulate messages that would mobilize the protesters and would help them to ultimately win this war.
