Political analyst Anatol Taranu considers fielding a common candidate on the Western vector for the mayoralty of Chisinau would be an ideal solution. According to him, if this candidate had also managerial capacities, his victory in the elections would be definite. The issue was developed in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Anatol Taranu doubts that such a candidate would appear. “Things can be easily explained. The animosities and the conflict in the pro-European camp are so serious and pronounced that this project launched by the Democratic Party would most probably not be successful,” stated the analyst.

Anatol Taranu said the tenacity with which the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) tries to impose the coalition partnership shows particular frustration in Andrei Nastase’s party. “I think the form in which Andrei Nastase entered this campaign does not reveal the hope of winning the elections in Chisinau. I believe improving the party’s rating is the key objective,” he noted.

Journalist Petru Bogatu said the leader of the PPPDA Andrei Nastase created a problem for the upcoming mayoral elections in Chisinau. His candidacy was proposed without consulting the leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) Maia Sandu. Later he said that regardless of the results of the poll announced by the PAS, he will run and his party will have the own candidate. “But Maia Sandu in this PPPDA-PAS partnership also created a problem when, being put in the situation to support him, said that she has to examine the situation in the party, suggesting she doubts that the members of the PAS would vote for Andrei Nastase,” stated Petru Bogatu.

As regards the Liberals’ candidate for mayor Valeriu Munteanu, the analyst said this step was taken to keep the party afloat. “I must admit that this is the best candidate that the Liberal Party could nominate,” he noted.
