The president of the National Unity Party (PUN) Anatol Șalaru said the party he represents will not take part in the building of a new unionist bloc because the unification of the parties of the right or unionist parties is a false slogan and a false goal given that their goal is the Union with Romania, not the union of unionist parties. Anatol Șalaru referred to he recently announced bloc that was created by three political parties and three civil society organizations, IPN reports.
“We do not see a powerful force in this bloc. All the parties that form part of this bloc taken together didn’t garner more than 1% of the vote in the recent elections. The Union with Romania is not an act that we plan for a particular date. It is a long-term process and this process cannot be developed by parties that are not recognized in Romania and that represent nothing for Romania,” the PUN leader stated in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel.
According to him, it would naïve to think that the desideratum of the Union with Romania can be entrusted to parties that are not recognized over the Prut and that are considered noxious. “The union process is institutional. It will not be managed by parties that are not recognized in Romania and that do not enjoy the people’s support. The fact that they didn’t win votes in the recent elections is conclusive. This shows the people do not trust them,” said the politician.
Anatol Șalaru noted the PUN hasn’t yet decided how it will run in the next parliamentary elections, but it will either support the Bloc ACUM or will compete separately. The party is preparing for and will definitely take part in the upcoming local elections.
