The referendum will throw Moldova into a new political confrontation and interminable electoral campaign, considers jurist Anatol Plugaru, who was a member of the first Parliament. In a news conference on Monday, Plugaru said he sees no difference between the Communists and the four ruling parties. “They are as weak. They only managed to make distinct two enemy camps that are not able to govern this country,” the jurist said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The political class in Moldova does not think about the needs of the voters, while the promises that those who impoverished the country will be identified and punished are not fulfilled, Anatol Plugaru said. “Our governors either appear on TV 2-3 times a day or go abroad to receive instructions or to ask for money,” he said. Anatol Plugaru stressed he possesses information that a popular uprising is being prepared as the political class in unable to govern the country. He called upon the politicians and the ordinary people to be more attentive to what's happening around them. According to Anatol Plugaru, the referendum set to take place in autumn is a big mistake as there will be wasted 40 million lei. “Article 78 of the Constitution should be modified in Parliament and the early legislative elections should be avoided by allowing the current legislative body to work for four years,” the jurist said. In the same connection, Anatol Plugaru stressed the necessity of reducing the election threshold to 2% for parties and eliminating it for independent candidates and of modifying the electoral system by introducing constituencies so as to strengthen the contact between the voters and the elected officials. He also suggested creating the People's Council that will represent the scientists, people of culture and businessmen.
