Anatol Plugaru gave up running in the October 30 presidential elections. In a news conference at IPN on September 23, members of his team presented a protest-application by which the competent bodies are requested to declare the upcoming elections unconstitutional and to nullify the subscription lists presented by the candidates of parliamentary parties, given the serious violations committed when compiling and presenting these.

“We inform you that what we witnessed before the election campaign and even during the first days of signature collection is simply horrible. The agony of those who captured the state brought us on the verge of a national catastrophe. The violation of the Constitution and legislation and of the basic norms of the international law reached unimaginable proportions,” stated Anatol Plugaru.

According to him, the government, after driving away over 1 million people, now prevents these from voting by refusing to establish more polling places in Russia, Canada, Ireland, Italy and other countries. The right to vote of the people from the left side of the Nistru is also grossly violated. These weren’t even allowed to put their signatures on support lists. Also, there are used different variants of voter rolls.

“In such conditions, any method of taking part in the so-called presidential elections makes us an accomplice of the current power. Participation actually means recognition of this power. The participation in these elections is an act of national betrayal,” stated Anatol Plugaru.

The protest-application signed by the members of Anatol Plugaru’s team calls on the competent bodies to investigate the committed illegalities and to hold those to blame accountable, and to declare the initiated elections unconstitutional. If their demands are not satisfied, they will urge the people to boycott the October 30 elections.
