Anatol Munteanu runs for a seat in the Romanian Parliament and is to elected by the Romanians outside the country, including by the holders of Romanian citizenship from Moldova. On Wednesday, November 26, he presented his electoral bid and team at a news conference hosted by Info-Prim Neo agency. When asked what parties from Moldova support him in this campaign, Anatol Munteanu has stated: “We mainly count on our ideas that we try to promote, we come with our team, and if we win, we'll come with the money and solve these problems.” The candidate refers to the issues related to obtaining the Romanian citizenship and issuing visas. He sees the solution in legally simplifying the the procedures of offering the citizenship and commits to start a collective lawsuit, in the name of the Romanians outside Romania's borders who have asked but have not received the Romanian citizenship because of red tape. Anatol Munteanu states that this collective form of protecting the rights of citizenship applicants is favorable for all the people registered on the respective lists, which will not have to defend their rights, separately, in courts of all levels. Anatol Munteanu wants to open a new legal consulting office in Bucharest to provide advice, especially to Basarabians, concerning the procedure of obtaining the Romanian citizenship, legal consultancy, concerning the verification of work contracts and accommodation. Anatol Munteanu's team stand for simplifying the issuance of Romanian visas to Moldovans. They say they will do their best for the visas to be issued for terms as long as possible and they suggest to use the money destined to open Romanian consulates in Cahul and Balti towns to increase the serving capacity of the consulate based in Chisinau, for example, by substantially extending the working time. Now the Chisinau authorities do not allow to open the consulates in those towns. Another offer of Anatol Munteanu refers to deepening the business contacts among companies from the Prut's banks. “The Moldovan produce is environmentally-friendly, tastier, cheaper and very many {(supermarket owners – e.n.)} may give up cooperating with Turkey or Bulgaria in favor of Moldova. Bucharest has very many supermarkets and may swallow some 3-4-5 trucks of produce from Moldova every day,” he said. Munteanu adds the building sites in Bucharest now need 10,000 workers to get from 500 to 2,000 euros a month. Anatol Munteanu, who fought in the Nistru war in 1992, will plead that the Romanian government pays pensions to the participants in those battles, to veterans having fought in the Romanian army in WWII. He will plead for raising the scholarships of the Basarabian students in Romania up to at least 200 euros and for helping the aging Romanian intelligentsia living in Moldova. After the war in Transnistria and several years of work in the Moldovan Defense Ministry, Anatol Munteanu says he was harassed by the Agrarian rulers and settled in Romania in 1996, where he became a prosperous businessman. The Romanian citizens outside the country may participate in the parliamentary elections of November 30, for the first time.
