Wrestler Anastasia Nikita for the first time won the title of world champion. Tudor Cîrlan’s pupil scored four victories at the World Wrestling Championships in Belgrade in the 59 kg weight class, beating Canada’s Laurence Beauregard, China’s Qi Zhang, Japan’s Sakura Motoki and Norway’s Grace Bullen, IPN reports.
Anastasia Nikita, 23, so far won four medals at the U23 Senior European Championships – two golds and two bronzes. She also triumphed at the 2020 World Cup and won bronze at the 2019 European Games.
Also in Belgrade, Irina Rîngaci, who became world champion last year in Oslo, won a bronze medal. In the semifinals, she lost to the champion of the Tokyo Olympics Tamyra Mensah-Stock of the United States but then beat China’s Feng Zhou.
