The dispute between Marian Lupu and Vlad Filat is a sign that the Democrat leader fears to lose the president’s post, in light of the recent efforts to avoid early elections at all cost. This is how political analyst Sergiu Nazaria explained to Info-Prim Neo the recent behavior of the AIE leaders. “There is a communication crisis between PDM and PLDM. A neutral candidate for presidency as a compromise solution is unacceptable for Marian Lupu”, said Sergiu Nazaria. According to him, if the Alliance leaders really want to avoid early elections, a compromise with PCRM is inevitable. Nazaria thinks the best solution to the political crisis is a new majority of which PLDM must be a part. A PCRM-PLDM coalition would totally exclude the monopoly of power, as it was before 2009, because both parties are strong and have massive electoral support, says Nazaria. The analyst considers an even better possibility: PDM should join the coalition and act as a mediator between PCRM and PLDM. At the end of last week, Marian Lupu said that negotiations between PCRM and PLDM proved their intention to destroy the governing alliance and to form a new “red-green” coalition. Vlad Filat, PLDM leader, described Lupu’s statements as speculation and nonsense.
