Ana Guțu, secretary of state at the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova in the Government of Romania, called on the mayors of Moldovan localities to sign cooperation agreements with mayor’s offices of Romania, IPN reports.

“There is also a very important legal basis in Romania, which regulates this freedom of the local public authorities to sign agreements with the mayor’s offices of the administrative territories of the Republic of Moldova. Based on these agreements, various projects can be developed to support the common culture, language, traditions, values and to provide assistance in different infrastructure projects,” Ana Guțu stated in the talk show “Emphasis on Today” on TVR Moldova channel.

Ana Guțu noted that the institution she represents plays an intermediation role between the mayor’s offices of Moldova and of Romania in dealing with the requests coming from Moldovan mayors who want to cooperate and to sign twinning agreements.

The official urged the mayors who want to establish long-lasting partnerships with Romanian mayor’s offices to contact the institution she represents. “In this regard we will contribute to this inter-institutional communication between Romania and the Republic of Moldova”.

University professor Ana Guțu, who is the vice president of the National Unity Party (PUN) of Moldova, was named secretary of state at the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova by the Prime Minister of Romania Ludovic Orban in the middle of February.
