An exhibition of photographs showing problems faced in communities, including the capital city, was mounted at the Chisinau City Hall. The photographs were taken in July-September by a group of students of a number of lyceums of Chisinau, IPN reports.

Mihaela Gurdiş, of the Theoretical Lyceum “Natalia Dadiani”, photographed a playground set up near a waste storage platform. She said there are many such examples in Chisinau City and this is not good. The people throw waste and stray dogs gather there and the children playing nearby are in danger.

Vasile Păpăluţă, of the same lyceum, photographed the recreation park situated in Buiucani district. The student used to visit the park with his parents when he was a child, but now the installations are nonfunctional and full of dust and he considers this regrettable.

Evelina Kalchev, of the Theoretical Lyceum “Natalia Dadiani”, photographed a park located in Râșcani district. She said the area is nice and could have been laid out for walks, but the territory is not looked after and the people litter it carelessly.

Camelia Bozian, of the Lyceum “Spiru Haret”, presented by pictures the situation of elderly people. A photo shows an elderly man looking after vine, while another picture taken in a year shows the vineyard abandoned as the man can no longer take care of it.

Attending the inauguration of the exhibition, acting mayor of Chisinau Ruslan Codreanu called on the authors of the pictures to come up with solutions to the identified problems. “For us, it is important to listen to and take into account t young people’s opinions. Only this way we can  contribute to solving the problems encountered in the communities where we live,” stated Ruslan Codreanu.

The exhibition was staged as part of the project “Facilitation of interpersonal ties in the social, cultural and educational spheres with emphasis on the persons who leave the state social protection system of the Republic of Moldova and Cernauti region”. The photos will be on display for a week.
