An anonymous sponsor offers 1 million U.S. dollars for the Military Glory Memorial.

The president Vladimir Voronin announced on Wednesday, 5th of April, that a sponsor is willing to transfer 1 million U.S. dollars in the special account for the reconstruction of The Military Glory Memorial from the capital. He qualified this action as a result of previous discussions. Voronin said that the name of the sponsor and of other persons that will give donations will be revealed only after the end of the works. The head of state made this declaration during his visit at the Memorial were he was informed about the reconstruction and enlargement works’ stage. Vladimir Voronin appreciated the fact the works are developing in normal rhythms, according to the preset schedule and to all quality criteria. The president demanded from the Govern and city Mayoralty to activate all the efforts in order to end the first stage of the works until the 9th of May, which is the date for celebrating “Victory day”. The second staged must be finished until 24th and 27th of August, when the 62nd anniversary from the liberation of Moldova from fascist occupation and the 15th from the declaration of independence of the Republic of Moldova will be marked.
