Ample campaign for foliage removal is carried out in Chisinau

The General Communal-Dwelling Division (GCDD) has no labor and equipment to collect and remove the foliage. About 350 employees of the municipal dwelling fund, of 1300 needed, are daily involved in these works. According to a Division’s order, the administrative staff of the municipal enterprises will be involved as well. Head of GCDD, Mihai Solcan says that because of the low salaries, there is registered a crisis of the sanitation works, and the employed people allow themselves not to go to work every day. According to Solcan, the municipality has 42 vehicles for transporting the foliage, which means only 20 percent of the necessary equipment. So, it is needed to buy technical equipment of about 20 mln lei. At present, it is registered a dense leaf-fall, that’s why the results of removing the foliage are not noticeable, head of the Division said. About 50 cars remove the foliage daily from the territory of the dwelling fund, that is, about 400 cubic meters of leaves, which are stored at the “Purcel” Mines in Vatra. Mihai Solcan said that the administrations of the residents’ associations and dwelling cooperatives will be urged to take measures of intensifying the works of removing the foliage. The GCDD is wiling to put means of transport at their disposal. About 20 units of modern equipment for sanitation and snow removal will be brought to the capital by the end of the year. The cars offer the possibility of performing sanitation works in the warm periods of the year on narrow streets, pavements and in the parks, while in winter – to operate snow removal works. At the same time, the municipality will settle the problem of the shortfall of about one thousand workers for performing sanitation works, the officials from the GCDD assert. One car will replace the work of 50 people.
