Our Moldova Alliance (AMN) says the Communists Party (PCRM) will try to rig the elections by using hundreds of thousands of fake ballots, printed in Israel. A similar accusation was earlier evinced by the National Liberal Party (PNL), Info-Prim Neo reports.
Serafim Urecheanu told a news conference on July 23 he had learnt the information from an employee of the state company “Registru”. Urecheanu claims “Registru” manufactured 10,000 attachments to Moldovan ID cards, with which people will vote on July 29.
The AMN leader adds “the Communists' usage of the administrative factor exceeds any limits.” He has shown a flyer printed by the state mail “Posta Moldovei”, which calls on voters “to elect number 1 post operator of Moldova.” The number is written in red, the PCRM's color, and it is number 1 on the ballots.
Serafim Urecheanu says the PCRM printed promo leaflets with the AMN's sign, in which voters are urged to vote for the AMN against 200 lei, in order to allegedly discredit the AMN.
When asked by Info-Prim Neo, the PCRM's representative at the Central Election Commission (CEC), Sergei Sarbu, has disavowed the AMN's charges. Sarbu says the ballots are printed only by two state printing houses in Moldova, are taken to the electoral bureaus and then to the polling stations, under the strict supervision of several persons, including observers and representatives of opposition parties. As for the ID attachments, they have numbers and can be checked out, he said.
Regarding Posta Moldovei's flyer, Sarbu says it has no relation with the Communists, since it has no word related to the elections or to the PCRM. Besides, there is no number on the ballots, he specified. The Communists' representative rejects the accusations about the leaflet in which the AMN allegedly promises 200 lei per vote. “Let them address the prosecutor's office to track who's done that flyer. We're not interested to do so and they produced no evidence,” Sergei Sarbu said.
At AMN's news conference, the deputy president of the European Liberal-Democrat Reforming Party, Jeanette Baljeu, announced her support for the AMN in this race. “The AMN is the party which has the right solution for Moldova's development and for its being steered on the European integration way. The EU integration entails commitment for the respect of human rights, and this condition has not been fulfilled by the present government, represented by the PCRM,” said the European politician.
