The high school graduates are indignant at the way in which the Baccalaureate exams were held and at their results. They felt very stressed and ultimately got poor marks, the leader of the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) Serafim Urecheanu said at a news conference on Monday, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The Communist government does not respect the rights of the young people as they do not represent the party’s voters. The previous years, the passing of the Baccalaureate exams was a holiday for the graduates. Now the exams turned into stress and the teachers are regarded as the most corrupt. This is a policy pursued by the Communist Party,” Urecheanu said. According to him, the graduates got the lowest marks in Romanian. “It is revenge by the authorities on the children that intend to go abroad to study. The nationwide disorder will also affect the admission process as the rules are not clear and make this process more complicated,” the AMN leader said. Urecheanu also said that the vocational schools do not prepare specialists for Moldova, but unwaged persons that have to go abroad to look for a job. “Only a small number of the graduates of vocational schools find employment in Moldova. The rest have to go abroad. The future of the graduates that will not be admitted to universities is also uncertain as there are no vacancies on the labor market in Moldova and they will not be able to find a job,” Urecheanu added. The former Deputy Minister of Education Valentin Crudu said that the Baccalaureate tests were difficult, while the exams lasted for too long, for 5-7 hours, which is against the regulations. Crudu also said that the examination halls were overcrowded as teachers, observers and parents were present there and created impediments to the graduates. “The examination regulations have not been observed, while the results were made public with delay. The results of the exams were to be announced on June 28, not on July 2-4 as it happened. The Baccalaureate tests should have been checked by two teachers, not only one. This shows that the Minister of Education and Youth (Larisa Savga – e.n.) and those that work with her have no idea what is happening in high schools,” he added. About 32,000 graduates, including students from colleges and universities, who finished the compensatory year, and students from Transnistria took Baccalaureate exams at 394 centers this year.
