The “Moldova Noastra” Alliance considers as aberrant, from the legal and moral point of views alike, the petition lodged on June 20 with the Chisinau Centru District Court, by means of which the Party of Communists request to postpone the validation of the Chisinau Mayoral election. The statement of AMN was made public in the Parliament by AMN deputy Leonid Bujor, on Thursday, June 21. According to AMN, this event proves once again the agony of the PCRM. By doubting the results of the poll, the communists forget that they themselves have committed and admitted numerous violations, applied the most dirty electoral methods, used the public media, involved the administrative factor for their own benefit and to the prejudice of other candidates. The statement says that instead of recognising the suffered failure and showing correctitude and fair-play, the representatives of the ruling party prove incapacity in learning the lesson of democracy, by trying to cancel the choice made by over 60% of Chisinau’s voters attending the polls. AMN considers that this attempt can separate the society and the entire responsibility for the possible consequences will lie with the PCRM. “Moldova Noastra” faction calls the communist government to respect the rules of democracy, to ensure independence of justice and exclude any pressure on it, to stop immediately the harassment of political opponents who won the local election. The representatives of PCRM asked to postpone by two days the issue on the validation of the second ballot’s results in Chisinau. Ghenadie Gluscenco, the representative of Party’s staff told Info-Prim Neo that this request is grounded on cases which need to be investigated to find whether the election legislation was violated. “If it is be proven that everything is alright, no legal complaint will exist, but if obvious violations are found, we will have the right to dispute the results of the lections”, he mentioned. In the runoff elections, organised on June 17, the candidate of PCRM obtained almost 39% of the votes, being defeated by the liberal candidate Dorin Chirtoaca.
