The Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) accuses the Communist Party of Moldova (PCRM) of resorting to red herrings and electoral tricks prepared by those that lose the elections in Moldova.
The AMN president Serafim Urecheanu told a news conference on Thursday that he held meetings with voters in darkness in a number of districts, while in Causeni district, persons dressed in yellow clothes, who said they were AMN campaigners, offered the people by 50-100 lei to vote for the AMN. The same team included a person that was filming the happenings “so as to fabricate discrediting materials,” Urecheanu said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
The AMN representatives presented images where market sellers are offered money so that they voted for the AMN. Urecheanu said that was a diversion and the fact that the market sellers were chosen as victims was not accidental as they were patentees whose interests the AMN protected. The AMN president also said that “the sellers realized that those persons were not representatives of the AMN because their faces were not familiar and announced the local staff of the AMN.” Moreover, Urecheanu said, “one of those persons disguised as AMN representative unmasked himself and said the money was from the Communists.”
Serafim Urecheanu also accused the PCRM of turning off the light at a meeting with voters in Straseni, where he had to speak for 30-40 minutes in darkness. “The light was switched off with the help of a device installed by a skilful person,” the AMN leader said. He added that the light was also turned out in Ghidighici village of Chisinau municipality and they had to hold the meeting outside, in the cold. A similar case happened in the house of culture in Ocnita.
“I understand that the Communists lose ground, but they exaggerate in their behavior,” Urecheanu said. He also said that the policemen are forced by the Minister of the Interior Gheorghe Papuc to destroy the election posters of the political adversaries.
The AMN leader also said that the PCRM stored the humanitarian aid designed for victims of disasters and started to distribute it now in districts.
Speaking about President Vladimir Voronin’s visit to Moscow, Serafim Urecheanu said the visit was an attempt to obtain Russia’s support in the parliamentary elections. According to Urecheanu, any document signed in Moscow means recognition by the Moldovan President of the complete failure of his policy to regulate the Transnistrian conflict pursued during the eight years of government.
Asked by Info-Prim Neo to comment on the accusations made by the AMN, the PCRM representative to the Central Election Commission Serghei Sarbu said that the accusations are absurd and ridiculous and represent a challenge. “The PCRM is trying to conduct a transparent and fair campaign, especially because it is monitored by international organizations,” Sarbu said.
