Modest, one or two-room apartments are now in demand on the realty market in Chisinau. That’s why the Chisinau Municipal Mortgage Agency (AMIC) has implemented mainly projects to build small homes. In the ceremony to put the building located at 101 Alba Iulia St in commission, AMIC director Petru Pripa has told IPN that the Agency has more such projects.

“We offer apartments for persons who do not have the whole sum of money. We build apartments that are small in area. Earlier, there were in demand large apartments, but now the people want smaller apartments, with bathroom, kitchen and halls larger than those built in the Soviet period. Earlier, they built large rooms and small kitchens and not all the family could sit at the table in the kitchen all together,” said Petru Pripa.

Within the previous AMIC projects, the clients could take out home loans repayable in 10 years. Now they can borrow money for 15 or even 20 years. Earlier, the first installment was minimum 45% of the price of the apartment, but now it is 20%-25% and a convenient monthly timetable of payments is set.

Now AMIC is erecting two apartment buildings on Cuza Voda St, in concert with the Technical University of Moldova. A part of the apartments were earmarked for teachers of this institution. “Another building is constructed on Drumul Viilor St, in a very good area, near the Park “Valea Morilor”. We are also analyzing the possibility of resuming the construction of the building located on Andrei Doga St. The clients will start to pay in advance when the works begin and when the building is registered at the Cadastre Agency, in accordance with law. Thus, they will be sure that the apartment is not sold to someone else,” stated Petru Pripa.

A client of AMIC Agency, who bought an apartment in the block on Alba Iulia St, has told IPN that he will pay for the apartment during four years, initially by €500 a month and then a lower sum. “I didn’t risk buying an apartment by paying in advance. I like the area as it is very quiet here,” he stated.

The block with 55 apartments was erected during a year and a half. There were sold 65% of the apartments.
