American soldiers vaccinate Moldovan children

Several North Carolina Army National Guard soldiers vaccinated children from the boarding-school no. 3 in Chisinau against Hepatitis-A and chickenpox on Tuesday, November 14. 52 children from this institution benefited from the needed vaccination, and 322 received dental treatment, Info-Prim Neo reports. US Ambassador to Chisinau, Michael Kirby, who paid a visit to the school and supervised the vaccination, appreciated this action as “a wonderful event, taking into consideration the fact that hepatitis is a very dangerous disease”. He also said that the cost of the action is insignificant since children are those to benefit from. Children in 32 boarding schools and orphanages across Moldova will receive free dental treatments and vaccinations against Hepatitis-A during the current week, under a program within the North Carolina-Moldova State Partnership. A total of 6,200 children will receive fluoride treatments, more than 2,050 children will be vaccinated against chickenpox, and 1,500 will get shots for Hepatitis-A. North Carolina has had a partnership with Moldova since 1999 and cooperates in a number of different fields including health care, education, business, government reform, the arts and military affairs.
