The third edition of the American Film Festival was inaugurated in Chisinau. From May 22 to 28, the Moldovans will have the opportunity to watch the best American movies featuring political and courtroom drama, Info-Prim Neo reports. The festival is organized by the UE embassy to Chisinau in cooperation with Odeon cinema. Attending the opening ceremony of the festival, US ambassador to Chisinau Asif J. Chaudhry has confessed his hobby was to go to the cinema. “Every country I have been to, my key goal was to promote culture. I consider cinematography is a good way to promote the culture of a country,” the ambassador said. “We've chosen a special theme – the political and courtroom drama in the American society, because it is understandable in any country where there are electoral and political processes, where there is justice,” Asif J. Chaudhry said. Ten of the best and most representative American movies will be projected during the festival, being selected by the American Film Institute, black and white and colored. Those ten movies are: “To Kill a Mockingbird,” “The Candidate”, “Erin Brockovich”, “Advise and Consent”, “Michael Clayton”, “Presumed Innocent”, “All the President's Men”, “A Few Good Men”, “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” and “The Verdict”. All the movies are in English with Romanian subtitles. The admission is free.
