American dentists treat Moldovan orphans freely

A team of American dentists is in Moldova to freely treat Moldovan children and exchange experience with their counterparts. The visit is organized by the US Embassy to Chisinau and is part of the actions implied by the State Partnership between Moldova and North Carolina, established in 1999, Info-Prim Neo reports. The group consists of three doctors and students from the North Carolina University. The dentists will treat children from the Straseni orphanage, and will freely consult and treat children at the Diadent Center in Chisinau. They will also lecture students and professors from the Moldovan Medical University and pay visits to different hospitals in Chisinau, Straseni and Cahul. One of them is Glen Reside, whose brother, David Reside, was the head of the Peace Corps Office in Moldova. Having this family experience, doctor Reside is familiar with the situation of dental treatment in Moldova’s regions, what significantly contributed to the visit. He cured 24 of those 25 orphans from Straseni right on the first day of his work on April 1. Doctors Burton Horwitz and Jonelle Grant will offer consulting and treatment to orphans on Thursday, 3 April, at the Diadent Dentistry Center. This trip is part of a series launched in 1999 by Steven Mackler DDS, an American physician from North Carolina. Since 1999, the American dentists from North Carolina and other US States come to Moldova several times a year to treat children from Moldovan orphanages.
