The women employees of the Border Police, the Department of Penitentiary Institutions and the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service will receive child benefit based on the general conditions. So far these got a benefit of only 400 lei a month. A bill to this effect was adopted by Parliament in the first reading, IPN reports.

Democratic MP Valentina Buliga, who drafted the bill, said this law is designed to remove the discrimination against women with special status who work in the Border Police, the Department of Penitentiary Institutions and the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service. Even if these women are insured by the state, they receive a child benefit of only 400 lei a month, as the socially uninsured mothers.

According to the data presented by the bill author, about 1,700 women work in the aforementioned institutions. A sum of 7 million lei a year will be needed to meet the provisions of the new law.
