No one will impose on Chisinau a law that will allow the country’s land to be sold to foreigners, together with the accession to the European Union. This thing will be negotiated, as the authorities of the Republic of Moldova will request. This is the response provided by the Ambassador of the European Union in Chisinau Jānis Mažeiks to TVR Moldova after his previous statements about the movement of capital in the EU became the subject of propaganda, IPN reports.
The European diplomat explained to TVR Moldova that he referred to the practice of some of the European countries, and this is decided by the governments of the respective states and there is no law that would impose the sale of land. “I saw very clearly the messages of the President and the Prime Minister, that the Republic of Moldova will ensure the national interests in the negotiation process. And yes, I can confirm that this is the purpose of the negotiations. Practically all the countries that became members of the EU in the last 20 years negotiated various bans and restrictions on the sale of land to foreigners in this negotiation process,” said Jānis Mažeiks.
The head of the Delegation of the European Union noted that his statement was distorted and was at the basis of falsehoods disseminated in the public space. “Many of these discussions come not from Moldova, but from Russia and I think that this aspect is important to understand, that it is not only a discussion here, which will take place because it is important to ensure the national interest of the Republic of Moldova, but also that it is exploited from Russia,” said Jānis Mažeiks
Commenting on the subject, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that during the accession negotiations, the Republic of Moldova will also ask for the imposition of restrictions on the sale of land to foreign citizens. The accession negotiations started in the summer of this year.
