At the end of his tenure, Ukraine’s Ambassador in Chisinau Marko Shevchenko was presented with the “Diplomatic Merit” Medal, First Class – the highest award of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – in gratitude for his remarkable efforts and dedication in strengthening the relations between Moldova and Ukraine, IPN reports.
“During the four-year period, with the personal involvement of Ambassador Marko Shevchenko, the dialogue between our countries became more intense, a number of important agreements were signed and joint activities on the platform of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation were resumed. The relations between Moldova and Ukraine have become stronger,” said the MFA.
Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, assured Marko Shevchenko that Moldova stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and will provide them with all the necessary support, whenever needed.
“I’m convinced that no challenge will divert us from achieving our common priorities and goals, from our common path towards a better future, towards a peaceful, stable, united and prosperous Europe. At the end of the meeting, I wished Mr. Ambassador much success in his further work. I‘m sure that no matter where he is, he will remain a faithful friend of the Republic of Moldova,” said Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi.
Marko Shevchenko was appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova in 2020. Last Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy named former secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov to this post.
